NAME AND LEGAL FORM
Article 1.- Under the name of Spanish Association of Breast Surgeons, a nonprofit association is created pursuant to the provisions of Organic Law 1/2002, of March 22nd, regulating the Right of Association and Law 7/2007, of June 22nd, of Basque Associations, approved by the Basque Parliament in accordance with the provisions of articles 9 and 10.13 of the Statute of Autonomy of the Basque Country.

This Association shall be governed by the provisions of the aforementioned Laws of Associations, by these Rules of association in so far as they are not inconsistent with the Act, by the agreements validly adopted by its governing bodies, provided they are not contrary to law and/or the Rules of association, as well as by the regulations approved by the Basque Government, to be applied by way of supplement.

PROPOSED PURPOSES
Article 2.- The purposes of the Association are:

1. Disseminate the knowledge about the treatments for breast cancer.
2. Take advantage of the sinergies created by the collaboration between experts of different medical backgrounds in order to achieve better results in the surgical treatment of breast cancer.
3. Promote research activities in the field of the surgical treatment of breast cancer.
4. Spread the rights of women with breast cancer to finish their treatment with the least disturbance in their physical image.
5. Train the new generations of surgeons in solving specific problems of the surgical treatment of the breasts.
6. Disseminate our activities on a social level in order to raise awareness regarding the problem of women who suffer deformities of their breasts as a consequence of surgery.
7. Make the necessary efforts so that breast surgery is granted a specific Training Area by the Spanish Ministry of Education.
8. Defend the freedom of professional activity of the associated surgeons.
9. Act as a valid representative before organzations and individuals in order to defend the interests of the associated surgeons.
10. Allow the communication and access to information sources in the field of the associates.
11. Represent its associates in matters of professional nature.
12. Organize activities in order to enhance the professional training of the associates.
13. Promote and encourage the connections with other professionals, associations or organizations, pursuant to the other goals of the Association.
14. Raise funds to carry out these tasks.

For the accomplishment of the aforementioned purposes, the following activities will be carried out, pending the satisfaction of all conditions required by law:

1. Conferences about the treatment of breast diseases
2. Lectures and debates
3. Meetings
4. Conventions
5. Publications
6. Public awareness campaigns
7. Training courses
8. and any other activity contributing to the accomplishment of the association’s purposes.

Notwithstanding the activities described in the previous section, in order to comply with its purposes the Association may:

1. Develop financial activities aimed at accomplishing its purposes or gathering ressorces with that objective.
2. Acquire and possess property of every kind and by any legal means, as well as enter into legals acts and contracts of all kinds.
3. Execute actions of every kind pursuant to the Law and its Rules of association.

REGISTERED OFFICE
Article 3.- The registered office of this Association will have the following address: Clínica La Asunción, subida a Izaskun sin numero, Servicio de Cirugía General, Tolosa.

The Association may have other premises at its disposal when agreed by the General Assembly.

GEOGRAPHICAL SCOPE
Article 4.- The geographical scope of the Association’s main functions will be the Basque Country, whereas the activities aimed at accomplishing its purposes will be carried out in Spain as a whole.

DURATION AND DEMOCRATIC NATURE
Article 5.- The Association is constituted with a permanent nature, and shall only be dissolved by agreement of the Extraordinary General Assembly according to what is set out in Chapter VI or by any of the causes established in the Laws.

The internal organisation and the operation of the Association should be democratic, with full respect for pluralism. The pacts, statutory dispositions and agreements that fail to recognize the aspects of the fundamental right of association shall be automatically void.
