Salamanca has been chosen as the venue for the IV International Conference of the Spanish Association of Breast Surgeons (AECIMA), to be held on May 8-9, 2015 at the Hospedería Colegio Fonseca. Dr Manuel Ramos, coordinator of the Breast Diseases Unit at the University Hospital of Salamanca and founding member of AECIMA, will be responsibe for organizing the meeting. He substitutes Dr Ricardo Pardo García, organizer of the last conference held last April in Ciudad Real.
Following the leitmotiv of last editions, the primary goal of the conference is to present the latest surgical techniques and other developments that may improve the quality in the management of breast cancer patients. Some of the hot topics to be discussed in this edition are the following: breast cancer treatment in young women, management of non-palpable cancer, controversy around prophylactic mastectomies, influence of neoadjuvant therapy on breast cancer surgery or immediate reconstruction in patients with mastectomy and radiation therapy.
Dr. Víctor Vega Benitez, new member of the Board of Directors, will be responsible for organizing the V AECIMA Conference, to be held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 2016.
